Randye J. Semple, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at USC and Director of Programs at the USC Adolescent Trauma Training Center. She teaches and consults in the USC Psychiatry Residency program, serves on steering committees for Mindful USC and the USC Center for Mindfulness Science, and the research committee of the American Mindfulness Research Association. Dr. Semple completed graduate and postdoctoral training at The University of Auckland (New Zealand), Columbia University, Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology with distinction from Columbia University.

Dr. Semple’s research and clinical interests are in the application of mindfulness to psychological health and well-being, with a particular focus on the development and evaluation of mindfulness-based interventions for children and adolescents in clinic and school settings. She has authored or co-authored than 40 scientific publications and two books for clinicians and K-12 teachers: Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Anxious Children (New Harbinger Publications, 2011) and The Mindfulness Matters Program for Children and Adolescents: Strategies, Activities, and Techniques for Therapists and Teachers (Guilford Press, 2019
