Help Advance Our Understanding Of Mindfulness
For Science & The Community
Despite the many advances in the field of mindfulness, there remains significant lacunae in the current scientific understanding of mindfulness. The USC Center for Mindfulness Science collaborates the efforts of leading investigators to promote interdisciplinary research to help fill these gaps. These include the component psychological processes (for example, metacognition, enhanced conscious awareness of moment-to-moment feeling and thinking states, enhanced cognitive control and non-reactivity) and their attendant neuropharmacologic and neurophysiologic underpinnings, best practices for teaching mindfulness, reliable knowledge of the efficacy of mindfulness practice interventions across different cohorts, as well as potential adverse effects, rare as they may be.
We believe our interdisciplinary research shall be most useful to the advancement of the field of mindfulness science, shedding insight on its relevance to education, healthcare, public policy, and beyond. Our group meetings foster interdisciplinary discussion of the areas of greatest interest in advancing mindfulness research.
Your support of the USC Center for Mindfulness Science advances a unique initiative to understand the root of mindfulness through a scientific lens. The potential for mindfulness to enhance the quality of life on both and individual and communal sphere is vast. The more we delve into the science, the more potential there will be to establish successful mindfulness initiatives that can make this world a better place.
